Forming a Business: Where to Start?

Innovation + Creativity = Catalysts for Progress

Do you have a business idea that you would like to make tangible? By forming your own Corporation or LLC that business idea can quickly become a thriving business entity. There is no doubt that becoming an entrepreneur is a big risk, but if you have the drive and passion for forming your own business then that big risk will soon become its own reward. Also your business idea may provide services or products that others may need, or have been searching for.  One of the things to keep in mind as you dive into the business world is that there are startup services and tools at your disposal. At SunDoc Filings we can provide you with the information and services you need for a successful business startup.

A lot of the formalities that comes with business formation can be time-consuming and stressful. If you prefer to not undergo the startup formalities yourself we can  make the process much easier and less stressful for you. The majority of business formation is with the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State requires a document referred to as the “Articles of Incorporation (or Organization)” to be filed. On our website you will find this service on the Certified Docs tab under the name “Formation Documents.” This document outlines general company information (members, duration of the company), company goals, registered agent information, etc. Also, the desired business name needs to be registered to be recognized as a business entity, or body.

It is advisable that you do a name availability search and/or name reservation with the Secretary of State to avoid rejected filings due to the unavailability of the desired business name. We can check to see if the company name you desire is available for use through a Name Availability Search and Reservation process(Please note there are Name Availability and Name Reservation fees).

In addition to filing an Articles of Incorporation (or Organization) document you will need a separate bank account for your company. You can obtain your EIN (Employer Identification Number) with the IRS and this will aid in the formation of your company bank account. It will raise suspicions to have all your business transactions, deposits of client checks, etc. going straight into a personal account. We can provide you with an EIN after you have completed the necessary forms. The EIN service can be found under the “Other Docs” tab of our website.

These formalities are essential to have your business recognized by the State, allowing you to conduct business legally. You will find it less time consuming to have us take care of the State filings and retrievals for you. Time and money will be saved, in addition to reducing the stress that may appear in the early stages of business formation. Please feel free to contact us for any concerns or questions you may have.
