The Secretary of State issues Idaho Good Standing Certificates (also known as Certificates of Existence). These documents may be required for various tax purposes, loans, or to renew business licenses. With a certificate, your Idaho business will be considered “in existence” with the state. It will also be authorized to transact business in Idaho and will be known to be in compliance with all state requirements. This will put your business in "good standing."

Definition
An Idaho Certificate of Good Standing is also known as an Idaho Certificate of Status and an Idaho Certificate of Authority. It is an official document issued by the Idaho Secretary of State that certifies that a business is in compliance with state requirements and a legal entity, registered with the state.
 
Upon submittal of the appropriate documents, the Idaho Secretary of State will grant a Certificate of Good Standing to any and all businesses — profit or nonprofit, domestic or foreign — that were duly registered or formed within the state of Idaho.
 
The document is one page long and bears the seal of the Secretary of State or another state agency if the issuing authority is not the Secretary of State.
