How to Qualify an Arkansas Corporation in Another State

If you are interested in foreign qualifying your Arkansas LLC or corporation, you will need to apply for this authority, and this may require having an Arkansas Certificate of Existence or an Arkansas Good Standing Certificate. Before you qualify as a foreign corporation in a separate state, your entity will be considered “foreign.” You can change this status by meeting the qualification guidelines for your target state. Again, this will likely require having a Good Standing Certificate from Arkansas. SunDoc Filings can help you meet the requirements for any state. To learn more, go to our qualification page.

Some states may need a short and long form Good Standing Certificate. They might also use the following terms in place of “Good Standing Certificate”:

  •    Letter of Good Standing
  •    Certificate of Authority
  •    Certificate of Existence
  •    Certificate of Authorization
  •    Certificate of Fact

Certificate of Good Standing v. Certificate of Existence- what is the difference?

A “certificate of good standing” is a statement issued by the Secretary of State noting that a specific entity has the authority to transact business in the state.

A “certificate of existence” is a statement issued by the Secretary of state noting basic corporate information and current tax status.
