California and we visit the Secretary of State's office 3 times a day. The
Sacramento branch is the only location copies of limited partnership, general
partnership, or limited liability partnership documents can be obtained.
We can retrieve a California LP/GP/LLP Certificate of Good Standing from the Secretary
of State on an expedited basis. In addition, we are able to retrieve any
California LP/GP/LLP document on file with the Secretary of State including copies of
the LP/GP/LLP formation documents, Amendments, Conversions, Mergers,
Dissolutions, and Cancellation documents. We can
obtain plain LP/GP/LLP documents or have them certified; the choice is yours.

Partnership Authority, Registered Limited Liability Partnership Registration,

Secretary of State fee: $10.00 counter fee per California LP/GP/LLP name + $1.00 for
the first page and $.50 thereafter, add $5.00 to certify the document.
Return shipping Option: $20.00 for FedEx overnight or $1.50 per page for a fax
copy or regular mail (free).
Total: $35.00 plus the state fee plus the shipping fee.

FAQ: Can you obtain records sooner then 5-7
business days? I called the state and they told me I could come in an pick up
the document immediately. I don't understand.
Answer: The Secretary of State is correct. You, as the owner of the LP/GP/LLP can
obtain copies of your documents within minutes of placing the order in person at
the LP/GP/LLP Records Counter in Sacramento. However, we are a service company and the
Secretary of State has policies involving services companies because combined,
service companies drop off 800-1200 retrieval requests a day. Obviously, the
Secretary of State cannot process that many requests while service companies
stand and wait for them. We feel the rule is unfair to our clients, but
unfortunately, it is their policy.
FAQ: What is a plain copy?
Answer: A plain copy is just a photocopy of the originally filed document.
FAQ: What is a certified copy?
A certified copy includes the plain document with a certified page stapled on
top. The certified page is signed by the California Secretary of State
certifying that the document is true and correct.
FAQ: Why would I need my document certified?
Answer: If the document is needed to close a loan or escrow, in court, to obtain
insurance, open a bank account, and for many other reasons, a certified copy of
the document is usually required. We suggest that you check with the requesting
agency to clarify whether or not they need a certified copy prior to placing
your order. Doing this will save you time and money.
